It was announced today that Last Comic Standing judge and stand up comedian Greg Giraldo passed away from an accidental prescription drug overdose. He was 44 years old. Giraldo was admitted to the hospital over the weekend after ingesting the pills, but didn’t pass away until earlier today, surrounded by family in his hospital room.

The Queens native — who tickled our funny bones as a staple on The Howard Stern Show, judge on Last Comic Standing, and a regular at Comedy Central Roasts — passed away at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ this afternoon. Greg’s death comes only five days after the funnyguy was rushed to facility following a prescription drug overdose in his Garden State hotel room. Giraldo collapsed shortly before taking the stage at a local nightclub last week.

Christina Applegate and fiance Martyn Lenoble are expecting their first child, her rep confirms to PEOPLE. She and her musician boyfriend got engaged on Valentine’s Day after dating for two years. They have yet to set a date for the wedding. “He gave me something to really want to live for and something to smile about,” Applegate told the magazine last year. Both Applegate and LeNoble have been married before. The ‘Samantha Who?’ star and her first husband, Johnathon Schaech, divorced in 2007.

This will be the second marriage for both Lenoble and Applegate. Christina was previously married to actor Johnathan Schaech for six years and they divorced in 2007. In July of 2008 Christina’s ex-boyfriend Lee Grivas was found dead of a drug overdose. Congrats to Christina Applegate on her happy news!

Well, she got one, and he’s a heavyweight: L.A.-based Robert Shapiro, who’s most famous for being part of the team that successfully defended O.J. Simpson. Robert has signed on to represent Lindsay Lohan in her saga, although his plan not to appeal the star’s 90-day jail sentence, which she must begin Tuesday. Instead, Shapiro, whose son died of a drug overdose in 2005, will try to convince Judge Marsha Revel to put Lindsay in rehab and eliminate or minimize jail.

Unless Shapiro is able to somehow successfully appeal her sentence, keep LiLo out of jail, Lohan is expected to turn herself in next Tuesday, July 20 to begin serving her sentence.
