Mercury Music Prize Nominees Announced



Every year the British music push waits with bated breath for the small list of nominees that will square off for the Mercury Prize and the list has now been announced. The Prize is given to the best British album released in the last year. In no fastidious order, the 12 lucky candidates are Foals, Dizzee Rascal, The xx, Paul Weller, Biffy Clyro, Villagers, Mumford & Sons, Kit Downes Trio, Wild Beasts, I Am Kloot, Laura Marling and Corinne Bailey Rae.

Lauren Laverne announced the Mercury Music Prize nominees in London today, previous to they gathered for photos. Dizzee Rascal, Corine Bailey-Rae and Paul Weller are a few of the solo artists nominated, by the side of with Laura Marling. The xx, I Am Kloot, Mumford and Sons, Foals and Biffy Clyro are among the bands up for the award who may stay on in 2009 winner Speech Debelle’s footsteps. The ceremony will take place on September 7th.
