After more than seven months of negotiations and a 36-day contract holdout, the Jets have agreed to terms with All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis, the team announced. Terms of the contract were not immediately available. The Jets commence the season against the Ravens a week starting today on Monday Nighttime Football, so the signing came just in the nick of calculate. Revis resurfaced on Twitter, writing, “I’m comin home baby!!! Revis Island LET’S GO.” He also apologized for the absence starting the team, adage it had been hard on him as well as the fans apologized, count that he can’t wait to get back on the field.
ESPN.com is reporting that Revis, widely recognized as one of the game’s best cornerbacks, is reportedly looking for a new contract in the neighborhood of 10 years, and $160 million, while the team has only offered him a contract worth $122 million. The Jets were without Revis throughout their preseason schedule and unless they get a transact business done soon, they will be without the All-Pro corner for their season opener against the Ravens on Monday, Sept. 13.
