After more than seven months of negotiations and a 36-day contract holdout, the Jets have agreed to terms with All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis, the team announced. Terms of the contract were not immediately available. The Jets open the season against the Ravens a week from today on Monday Night Football, so the signing came just in the nick of time. Revis resurfaced on Twitter, writing, “I’m comin home baby!!! Revis Island LET’S GO.” He also apologized for the absence from the team, saying it had been hard on him as well as the fans apologized, adding that he can’t wait to get back on the field.

ESPN.com is reporting that Revis, widely recognized as one of the game’s best cornerbacks, is reportedly looking for a new contract in the neighborhood of 10 years, and $160 million, while the team has only offered him a contract worth $122 million. The Jets were without Revis throughout their preseason schedule and unless they get a deal done soon, they will be without the All-Pro corner for their season opener against the Ravens on Monday, Sept. 13.

Rafael Nadal solved the travel plan dilemma of brand-new father Gilles Simon, sending the distracted Frenchman home to see his newborn son with a 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 defeat Sunday in the third round of the U.S. Open. Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka put an end to speculation over Andy Murray’s lack of a Grand Slam title as he slammed the Scot 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, 6-3 in a comeback victory. Wawrinka was able to turn the tide in the combative match after losing the first set, keeping Murray on the back foot as he carved out an upset. The Swiss took a thigh wrapping midway through the third set and kept up the pressure to deny Murray, two years after the fourth seed lost the final to Roger Federer.

Andy Murray has made an earlier-than-expected exit from the U.S. Open, losing to No. 25 Stanislas Wawrinka in the third round. Wawrinka defeated Murray 6-7 (3), 7-6 (4), 6-3, 6-3 on Sunday in Armstrong Stadium. Murray was a popular pick this year, based on trips to the finals at Flushing Meadows two years ago and this year’s Australian Open, along with a win in Montreal last month in which he beat both Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Instead, he makes his second straight early exit from the U.S. Open. Last year, as the No. 2 seed, he was upset in the quarterfinals by Marin Cilic. Next, Wawrinka will play 20th-seeded American Sam Querrey in the fourth round.

Having been keeping a low profile as of late, Keira Knightley was busy shooting an advertisement for Chanel on the streets of Paris, France on Sunday (September 5). Making for quite the action-packed outing, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” cutie was clad in a tight-fitting beige suit as she hopped aboard a motorcycle for the new campaign. Keira Knightley was busy shooting an advertisement for Chanel on Sunday, September 5th, 2010 in the streets of Paris, France. The “Never Let Me Go” actress posed on a motorcycle for a shoot in a beige suit that matched her helmet and her bike at the Place de la Concorde between two hotties in suits. Knightley’s new film, “Last Night” is set to premiere during the International Rome Film Festival which runs from October 28 to November 5th. The film co-stars Sam Worthington, Eva Mendes, Guillaume Canet is being promoted as, “a romantic tale of sexual attraction, betrayal, and jealousy.”

The recently divorced Cheryl Cole graces the October 2010 cover of Vogue UK.   Cheryl  split from soccer player Ashley Cole in February amid claims he had been unfaithful with a string of women – wasn’t present at London’s High Court to see the decree nisi granted by district judge Chris Simmonds this morning (01.09.10).   In a brief hearing, the judge accepted the couple’s four-year marriage had broken down because of the England and Chelsea defender’s “unreasonable behaviour”.

Six North Carolina starters will not play in their season opener on Saturday against No. 16 LSU in Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A kickoff, the university announced on Friday. The six starters — defensive tackle Marvin Austin, cornerback Charles Brown, cornerback Kendric Burney, wide receiver Greg Little (right), defensive end Michael McAdoo and defensive end Robert Quinnhave been declared ineligible for violating school and/or NCAA rules.

The NCAA first visited the campus in July focused on whether Austin and Little received improper benefits from agents. That probe has since expanded into potential academic misconduct involving a tutor. ”We are still working with the NCAA staff to resolve these eligibility issues,” athletic director Dick Baddour said in a statement. “The NCAA is focusing on each of their situations on a case-by-case basis. Together we are working to determine their status in as thorough and fair a process as is possible.”

She was trying to lose me, blowing stop signs and stuff,” Jaime said, who followed Lohan after being stunned at what he saw. ”Lindsay was scared because she knew I saw what she did.” But the incident doesn’t seem to have registered with Lohan, who was released from a court ordered rehab and jail sentence last month. When contacted for comment, she told, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
